SL Stands for Sleeper Class which is the most common coach class code used by Indian Railways. It is also the cheapest mode of travel, with a capacity to accommodate up to 72 passengers in one coach.

The coach has three berths on each side of the aisle, with a total of six berths per compartment. The berths are comfortable and spacious, and passengers need to bring their meal and bedding or can purchase it from the Indian Railways.

As the name suggests, it is a class where passengers can sleep comfortably in their berths during overnight journeys. There are no air-conditioning facilities in this class. However, there are fans installed in each compartment to keep passengers cool during the hot summer months. Sleeper Class is the most economical class and is preferred by budget travellers.

1A stands for First AC or AC 1-Tier which is the most luxurious and expensive coach class code available on Indian Railways. It has a capacity of only 18 passengers in one coach, and each passenger is provided with a private cabin with a locking door. The cabin has two or four berths, depending on the train. Each cabin is equipped with a washbasin and a mirror. Bedding and meals are included in the fare, and passengers are provided with clean linen and blankets.

First Class AC is ideal for those who want to travel in comfort and style, and are willing to pay a premium price for it.

The coach also has a small pantry and a personal attendant to take care of the passengers' needs.

You can also travel with your pets in this coach but only if you have been alloted a coupe (Cabin with Two Berths) and completing formalities in parcel office of Indian Railways. You can checkout our story for more information on how to travel with pets in India: How to travel with a Dog in India - A Complete Guide
