Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum

The Amritsar Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum is a museum in the city of Amritsar, Punjab, India. It is dedicated to the life and times of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the founder of the Sikh Empire. The museum is housed in the Ranjit Singh Fort, which was originally built by the Mughal emperor Akbar in the 16th century. The fort was captured by Ranjit Singh in 1799, and he subsequently had it rebuilt in the late 18th century. The museum was opened in 1972. The museum contains a collection of artifacts relating to Ranjit Singh and the Sikh Empire, including paintings, weapons, armor, coins, and textiles.
