Jhelum River

The Jhelum River has a long and complicated history. It is believed to have been created by the merging of two rivers, the Chenab and the Ravi. The Jhelum River flows through the Kashmir Valley and has played an important role in the region's history and culture.

Anantnag is named after the Hindu god Vishnu, who is often depicted holding a conch shell. The word "Anantnag" means "the place of infinite bliss".

There are several lakes in the Anantnag district, but it is not clear which one is fed by the Jhelum River.
