Parthenon

The Parthenon is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Athens and one of the most recognisable symbols of ancient Greece. The temple is located on the Acropolis of Athens, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Parthenon was built in 447 BC as a temple to the goddess Athena. It is made of Pentelic marble and is one of the most well-preserved ancient buildings in the world. The temple features a number of distinctive features, including its 46-metre-high columns and its intricate carvings. The Parthenon is open to the public and admission is free. It is open every day from 8:00am to 8:00pm.
