Propylaea

The Propylaea is the monumental gateway that leads to the Acropolis in Athens. It was constructed in 437 BC by the Athenian statesman Pericles, as part of a larger project to beautify and defend the city. The Propylaea is a classic example of Greek architecture, with its simple Doric columns and elegant proportions.
