San Cristobal de la Laguna is a city and municipality in the northwest of the Canary Islands, Spain. It is the second largest city on the island of Tenerife after Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The city is the capital of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. San Cristobal de la Laguna is located on the slopes of the Teide volcano, and is a noted center for the study of astronomy. According to the 2010 census, the city had a population of 78,384.
