Gwal Devta

Champawat Gwal Devta is the presiding deity of Champawat district in the state of Uttarakhand, India. Champawat Gwal Devta is also venerated in the districts of Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Almora. Champawat Gwal Devta is the tutelary deity of the Chand dynasty, who ruled over Champawat during the 13th century. Champawat is also the birthplace of the Chand dynasty. Champawat Gwal Devta is generally represented as a warrior riding a horse. The annual fair dedicated to Champawat Gwal Devta is held at the temple dedicated to him in Champawat.
