Punnathurkotta Elephant Palace

Guruvayur Punnathurkotta Elephant Palace is an elephant training center in Kerala, India. The palace is situated in the village of Punnathurkotta, near the town of Guruvayur, Thrissur district. It is the largest elephant training center in Asia. The palace was built in 1965 by the late Maharaja of Mysore, Sri Jayachamaraja Wodeyar. It is said that the Maharaja was so fond of elephants that he built this palace to house and train them. The palace is spread over an area of and is home to around 100 elephants. The palace is open to the public from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
