Sultan Ahmed Mosque (Blue Mosque)

The Blue Mosque, officially the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, is a historic mosque in Istanbul, Turkey. It was built from 1609 to 1616, during the rule of Ahmed I. The mosque is also popularly known as the Blue Mosque for the blue tiles used to adorn its interior.

 

The Blue Mosque is one of the most famous symbols of Istanbul and Turkey. It is the city's most important tourist attraction, and is also one of the largest mosques in the world. The interior of the mosque is decorated with blue Iznik tiles, which gives the mosque its popular name.

The mosque is open to visitors every day, and admission is free. It is best to visit the mosque in the morning or early afternoon, as it can get very crowded later in the day. Photography is not allowed inside the mosque, but visitors can take pictures from the courtyard.
