Kozhikode district is one of the 14 districts in the state of Kerala, India. The district was formed on 1 November 1982, it was carved out of the erstwhile Malabar district. The district is divided into two revenue divisions - Kozhikode and Vatakara. Kozhikode is the district headquarters and Vatakara is the revenue divisional headquarters. The district has six taluks, viz. Kozhikode, Beypore, Cheruvannur, Koyilandy, Mukkam and Vatakara.
