Ginkakuji

Ginkakuji

Kyoto Ginkakuji is a temple of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism. Located in the northeast of Kyoto, it was built in 1490 by the shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa. The temple is also known as the "Silver Pavilion" because of the silver-covered roof of its main hall. Kyoto Ginkakuji is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
