The Centre Pompidou was designed by the architectural team of Richard Rogers and Renzo Piano, along with Gianfranco Franchini. The building was completed in 1977. The museum has a collection of more than 200,000 works of art, making it one of the largest art museums in Europe. The Centre Pompidou is also home to the Bibliothèque publique d'information (Public Information Library), which is the largest public library in Europe.
