The Pauri Garhwal district is located in the Garhwal region of the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is bounded on the north by the Alaknanda River, on the east by the Tehri Garhwal district, on the south by the Chamoli district, and on the west by the Rudraprayag district. The district headquarters is the town of Pauri. The district is divided into four tehsils: Pauri, Lansdowne, Kotdwar, and Dhari. As of 2011, the district had a population of 511,879. The Pauri Garhwal district is a popular destination for trekking. Some of the popular treks in the district include the Pauri Garhwal Trek, the Kedarnath Trek, the Gangotri Trek, the Yamunotri Trek, and the Hemkund Sahib Trek.
