Ajodhya is a religious town in the Purulia district of West Bengal, India. It is located on the banks of the Ajay River, a tributary of the Damodar River. Ajodhya is a major Hindu pilgrimage center, and is the site of the Babri Masjid, a mosque which was destroyed in 1992.
