The fort is believed to have been built by the Solanki dynasty in the 10th century. The fort was later captured by the Mughals in the 16th century. The fort was then captured by the Marathas in the 18th century. The fort was then captured by the British in the 19th century. The fort was used as a military outpost by the British. The fort was abandoned by the British in the early 20th century. The fort is now in ruins.
