Shimoga (Shivamogga)

Shimoga is a city located in the Shimoga district of the state of Karnataka, India. It is the administrative headquarters of the Shimoga district. Shimoga is located on the banks of the Tunga River. The city is nicknamed The Gateway to the Malnad. Shimoga is an important center of education with more than 120 engineering, medical and other colleges. Shimoga is also an important center of the sugar industry. The city is also a major center of the timber industry. The city is also a major center of tourism.
