Siena Chapel

The Siena Chapel, also known as the Sistine Chapel of the Dominican Order, is a 14th century chapel located in the city of Siena, Italy. The chapel was commissioned by the Sienese Dominicans in the early 14th century, and is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The chapel was designed by the Dominican friar, Fra Giovanni di Simone, and is considered to be one of the finest examples of Italian Gothic architecture. The chapel's most notable feature is its elaborate fresco cycle, which was executed by the Sienese painter, Ambrogio Lorenzetti, and his brother, Pietro Lorenzetti. The frescoes depict scenes from the lives of the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ, as well as episodes from the lives of the saints. The Siena Chapel is open to the public and is free to visit.
