Sonamarg is a small town in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in northern India. It is located in the Ganderbal district, 83 kilometres (52 mi) from Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. The town is located at an altitude of 8,800 feet (2,700 m) on the banks of the Sind River, a tributary of the Jhelum River.
