The Venice synagogue, also known as the Jewish Museum, is a museum in Venice, northern Italy, dedicated to the history and culture of the Jewish people.Opened in 1932, it is the first museum in the world specifically devoted to Jewish culture.The museum is housed in the former Scuola Grande Tedesca, a grandiose late-Gothic building erected in the 15th century by the German community in Venice.The museum contains a large collection of Jewish art and ceremonial objects, including a large collection of Torah scrolls.The museum also contains a library and an archive of Jewish manuscripts.
