About Sundarbans The Sundarbans is a vast area of mangrove forests, tidal rivers and islands in the Ganges Delta of Bangladesh. It is the largest such delta in the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Sundarbans has a rich diversity of flora and fauna. The Royal Bengal Tiger is the apex predator in the region and is a major tourist attraction. Other wildlife includes deer, monkeys, crocodiles and snakes.
There are a number of tourist destinations in the Sundarbans, including the Sajnekhali Wildlife Sanctuary, the Sundarbans Tiger Reserve and the Lothian Island. Boat trips and wildlife safaris are popular activities in the area.
