The Spice Bazaar (Turkish: Mısır Çarşısı) is a historical market in Istanbul, Turkey. It is located in the Eminönü district, on the southern bank of the Golden Horn, at the point where it opens into the Bosphorus. The bazaar was built by the Grand Vizier of the Ottoman Empire, Vezir Pasha, in 1660. It was substantially renovated in 1875. The Spice Bazaar is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Istanbul, receiving almost two million visitors a year. The Spice Bazaar is a covered market, with two storeys of shops. It sells a wide variety of spices, herbs, and foodstuffs. There are also many restaurants in the bazaar. The Spice Bazaar is open every day, except Sundays.
