Khao Lak is a town in Phang Nga Province on the Andaman Sea coast of southern Thailand. It is north of the much larger resort town of Phuket. Khao Lak is about one-hour drive north of Phuket International Airport. Khao Lak was severely damaged by the tsunami generated by the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake.
Many of the town's resorts and hotels were destroyed. Rebuilding has been underway since then. Khao Lak is a popular tourist destination. It offers many white sand beaches, coral reefs, and mangroves.
