Luxor

Luxor is located on the east bank of the River Nile in southern Egypt. It is the site of the ancient city of Thebes and the necropolis of the Valley of the Kings. The modern city has many amenities including hotels, restaurants, a bazaar and several mosques.

The name Luxor comes from the Arabic al-uksur, meaning "fortifications". It was originally called Waset by the ancient Egyptians. The ancient city of Thebes was the capital of Upper Egypt during the Middle and New Kingdoms. The city was the home of the pharaohs and the center of their power. The Valley of the Kings was the burial place of the pharaohs and their consorts.
Luxor is a popular tourist destination. There are many ancient temples and tombs to see, including the Temple of Karnak, the Temple of Luxor, and the Valley of the Kings. There are also many modern tourist attractions, including the Luxor Museum, the Mummy Museum, and the Luxor Bazaar.
