Mahashivratri

Mahashivratri is one of the most important Hindu festivals celebrated in honour of Lord Shiva. It is celebrated on the 13th day of the month of Phalguna in the Hindu calendar. This year, it falls on February 21, 2019. Mahashivratri literally means the 'Great Night of Shiva'. It is celebrated by Hindus all over the world as a festival dedicated to Lord Shiva. On this day, devotees observe a fast and perform special prayers and rituals in honour of the Lord. The main highlight of Mahashivratri is the evening procession of Lord Shiva known as 'Arati'.
