State Tretyakov Gallery

Moscow State Tretyakov Gallery is a museum of Russian art, located in the city of Moscow. It is one of the largest and most famous art museums in the world, and the largest in Russia. The gallery is named after Pavel Tretyakov, a Russian businessman and patron of the arts who donated his large collection of Russian art to the nation. The gallery is situated in the Tretyakovsky district of central Moscow, on the banks of the Moskva River, and occupies a building of the same name, which was designed by the architect Victor Vasnetsov and built in 1892-1894. The Moscow State Tretyakov Gallery is one of the largest art museums in the world. It contains more than 130,000 works of art, including the largest collection of Russian art in the world, as well as works by many of the world's leading artists from other countries. The gallery is divided into two main sections: the Russian art section, which contains the largest collection of Russian art in the world, and the international art section, which contains works by artists from other countries. The Russian art section of the gallery contains works by some of the most famous Russian artists from all periods of Russian art, including painters such as Ivan Aivazovsky, Ilya Repin, Vasily Surikov, and Konstantin Korovin, and sculptors such as Ivan Pavlov, Alexander Matveyev, and Boris Kustodiev. The international art section of the gallery contains works by some of the world's leading artists from other countries, including painters such as Vincent van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, and Pablo Picasso, and sculptors such as Auguste Rodin and Antoine Bourdelle.
