The museum is housed in the restored mansion of the 19th-century merchant and shipowner Antonis Moraitis. It was founded in 1976, and opened to the public in 1978. The museum's collection includes finds from the Neolithic and Early Bronze Age settlements of Ayia Irini and Kastro, as well as artifacts from the Archaic, Classical, and Hellenistic periods. The museum is open daily from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Admission is free.
