Phanigiri Buddhist Site

The Buddhist site of Phanigiri is located in the Nalgonda district of Telangana, in southern India. The site is thought to have been inhabited from the 3rd century BC to the 11th century AD, and is particularly renowned for its monolithic stupa, or shrine. The stupa is one of the largest in India, and is thought to have been built in the 5th century AD. The site also features a number of other Buddhist structures, as well as a number of inscriptions which provide valuable insights into the history of Buddhism in southern India.
