9. Sattal
chiatal is a small town and a tourist destination in Nainital district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is located at a height of 1,239 metres (4,062 feet) in the foothills of the Himalayas. Naukuchiatal literally means "the nine cornered lake" in Hindi.
The town is situated around Naukuchiatal Lake, which is a widening of the Naukuchia River. The lake is about 900 metres (3,000 feet) long and about 300 metres (1,000 feet) wide. It is said that the shape of the lake is that of a nine-pointed star.
The place is popular for its natural scenery, including forests, hills, and a large lake. It is also home to a large number of birds, including the black-headed oriole, the Asian paradise flycatcher, and the crested kingfisher.
The town is connected to the city of Nainital by road. Naukuchiatal is about 33 kilometres (21 miles) from Nainital.
