Palampur is a town and a nagar panchayat in Kangra district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is a famous hill station in Himachal Pradesh. Palampur is located in the Dhauladhar Range of the Himalayas at an altitude of 1,438 metres (4,721 ft). Palampur is well known for its tea gardens. It is also the headquarters of the Palampur tea estate. The town is connected to the state capital Shimla by an all-weather road and is also well-connected to other important towns in Himachal Pradesh. The climate of Palampur is cool and pleasant throughout the year. Summers are mild with average maximum temperature of 28 °C (82 °F) and winters are cold with average minimum temperature of 4 °C (39 °F). Snowfall is common in winter.
