5. Kanatal
ehri Garhwal district is located in the state of Uttarakhand in India. The district is bounded by the districts of Dehradun and Haridwar in the north, the district of Chamoli in the east, the district of Pauri Garhwal in the south and the district of Rudraprayag in the west. The district occupies an area of 4,868 square kilometers.
The district is divided into five tehsils: Lansdowne, Narendranagar, Chamba, Tehri and Pratapnagar. The district has one municipality, the town of Tehri.
The district is traversed by the river Bhagirathi, which is a tributary of the Ganges. The important rivers which flow through the district are the Tons, the Yamuna and the Sarju.
The district has a hilly terrain with an altitude ranging from 300 meters to 7,816 meters above sea level. The forests in the district are rich in flora and fauna.
The district is well connected by roadways and railways. The important roadways passing through the district are the National Highway 58 and the State Highway 58. The district has two railway stations, the Narendranagar Railway Station and the Tehri Railway Station.
