11. Vizianagaram
istrict of Vizianagaram is located in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. It is situated in the north-eastern part of the state and is bounded by the Bay of Bengal to the east, the districts of Srikakulam to the north and north-west, and Vizianagaram district to the south.
The district has an area of 10,854 km² and a population of 2,306,521 (2001 census). The district headquarters is located at Vizianagaram.
The district is divided into two revenue divisions - Vizianagaram and Bobbili. These are further divided into six mandals in Vizianagaram division and five mandals in Bobbili division.
The district has a rich cultural heritage. The major languages spoken in the district are Telugu and Hindi.
The district is rich in mineral resources. The important minerals found in the district are bauxite, coal, chromite, copper, iron ore, limestone and mica.
The district is well connected by road and rail. The district has a good network of roads and the State Highway 11 (Andhra Pradesh) passes through the district. The district has a railway station at Vizianagaram.
