Shevaroy Temple

The Shevaroy Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Yercaud, a hill station in the Salem district of Tamil Nadu, India. The temple is situated on the Shevaroy Hills, at an altitude of 1,650 metres (5,410 ft). The temple was built by the Pandyas and the Cholas in the 8th century. The temple is one of the Pancha Bhoota Stalams, the five temples dedicated to Lord Shiva that represent the five elements of nature. The other four temples are located at Kanchipuram, Chidambaram, Tiruvannamalai, and Talakad. The temple complex covers an area of 3.5 acres (14,000 m2) and is surrounded by a fort wall. The temple has a three-tiered gopuram and a Nandi statue. The temple tank is located in the temple complex. The temple is open from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
