Architecture of Hirakud Dam
The Hirakud Dam is a concrete gravity dam on the Mahanadi River in the state of Odisha, India. It was completed in 1957 and is the longest dam in India at 716 metres (2,346 ft). The main purpose of the dam is irrigation, with downstream power generation and flood control also benefiting from the reservoir.
