Yedikule Fortress

The Yedikule Fortress is located in the Yedikule neighborhood of Istanbul. It is a Byzantine fortress that was built in the 5th century. The fortress was originally built by the Eastern Roman Emperor Theodosius II. It was rebuilt and expanded by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian I in the 6th century. The fortress was used to defend Constantinople from attack. It was also used as a prison. The fortress is now a museum. It is open to the public from 9am to 5pm.
