Venur

Karkala is a city located in the Udupi district of Karnataka, India. It is about 42 km from Udupi and about 60 km from Mangalore. Karkala is the headquarters of the Karkala taluk. The city is known for its ancient Jain temples. The most famous among these is the statue of Gommateshwara Bahubali, also known as the Bahubali statue, which is located on a hilltop. The statue is about 39 feet (12 m) tall and was installed in 1432. Other places of interest include the Ananthapadmanabha Temple, the Venur Temple, the Karkala Church, and the Karkala fort. The economy of the city is based on agriculture and horticulture.
