Galaganath Temple

Pattadakal is a historical and religious town in the Bagalkot district of Karnataka. It is located on the left bank of the Malaprabha River. The town is famous for its 10th-century temples, which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Pattadakal Galaganath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is located in the Pattadakal village, which is about 4 km from the main town. The temple is a beautiful example of the Nagara style of architecture. It is said that the temple was built by the Rashtrakuta king, Dantidurga, in the 8th century. The temple is a three-storeyed structure with a shikhara or tower over the sanctum. The temple is adorned with beautiful sculptures and carvings. The most notable features of the temple are the four dancing Shiva sculptures on the roof and the beautifully carved Nandi (bull) statue. The Pattadakal Galaganath Temple is a popular tourist attraction and is visited by thousands of pilgrims every year.
