Ranikhet is a hill station in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, India. It is located in Almora district, Ranikhet tehsil. Ranikhet is at an altitude of 1,869 metres (6,128 feet). The town is named after Raja Nain Singh, who was killed in a battle with the Gorkhas in 1814. Ranikhet is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Kumaon. The main tourist attraction is the Jhula Devi Temple, which is dedicated to the Hindu goddess Durga. The temple is located on a hill overlooking the town of Ranikhet.
