Ponte Sant Angelo

The Ponte Sant'Angelo, also called the "Ponte St. Angelo", is a Roman bridge in Rome, Italy, designed by Emperor Hadrian in 134 AD. It connects the Campus Martius on the west bank of the Tiber with the Quirinal Hill on the east bank. The bridge is faced with travertine and has an overall length of 62 meters. It has three arches: the central one is 31.3 meters high and 8.4 meters wide, the two side arches are 22.9 meters high and 6.5 meters wide. The bridge is now open to pedestrians. There is a legend that the bridge was built by the angel Raphael.
