Ancient Thera

Santorini is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Greece. The island is located in the southern Aegean Sea and is part of the Cyclades group of islands. The island is best known for its dramatic cliffs, whitewashed villages, and stunning sunsets. Santorini was formed about 36 million years ago when an enormous volcanic eruption caused the island to collapse into the sea. The eruption created a caldera that is now filled with water. The island is also home to a number of archaeological sites, including the ancient city of Thera. Santorini is a popular destination for cruise ships. Ferries also connect the island with the other islands in the Cyclades, as well as the mainland.
