Kodaikanal Solar Observatory

The Kodaikanal Solar Observatory is a research observatory of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics located in Kodaikanal, India. It was founded in 1962 by Dr. B. V. S. Rao. The observatory has a 1.2-meter Ritchey–Chrétien reflecting telescope, the largest telescope in India. It also has a 60-centimeter Cassegrain telescope. The observatory is used for research in solar physics, stellar astrophysics, and galactic astronomy.
